Εast Μacedonia & Τhraki

Εast Μacedonia & Thrace The wine route starts from the temple of Dionysus in Kali Vrisi of Drama.
Dionysus was the Olympian God of grape harvest and winemaking. A great variety of wineries surround the villages of Drama.
They are located near Falakro Mountain, Kokkinogia at the southwest of Drama, Mikrohori and around the historical town of Adriani, famous for its excellent local wines and tsipouro (strong distilled spirit).
The visiting wineries are surrounded by meticulously-tended vineyards and visitors can take a tour in the production areas and the wine cellars. They will have the chance to acquire useful knowledge about these widely known wines and taste their unique flavors.
The wine trip continues to the vineyards of Kavala. The wineries are mainly concentrated in the areas of Eleftheres and Orfani, in the southwest of Mount Pangaion, a place also known for once being a center of Dionysian worship.
A bit further towards east is Thrace. Several kilometers from the coast of the Thracian Sea, we find the archeological site of Abdera. Since the ancient times, wine growing has been a popular activity on the hilly territories.
