Searching the origins of the Domaine Evinos, owned by Koulocheris family, we go back to the ancient times when vineyards were just beginning to get cultivated in the region of Mesogea land in Attica. Since 1888, the family has been producing the regional variety of Savatiano and the well-known Retsina of Spata.
On a 9-ha private land in Spata, the heart of the Mesogea area, Stavros Koulocheris established a modern winery in 2006, combining the industrial architecture of the Interwar period with the traditional aesthetics of Mesogea.
The 9-ha tract covers areas at Spata, Ambelochori in Viotia, next to the ancient temple of Kabeiria, and the Metochi of Keratea. The 3,300 vines per hectare are planted in a linear way and the grapes are sorted by hand-picking.
The Domaine’s high quality wines that stand out, preserve their originality, while at the same time they are prepared to satisfy all kinds of consumers, even the most demanding. It is not by chance that this Greek winery keeps receiving awards and distinctions at national and international level wine contests. This is due to the low yield production and giving special attention to all production stages.
Nature inspires the philosophy of the winery. Simplicity and efforts to endure through time are the main features of this Mesogean vineyard.
The owner strongly believes that the region’s indigenous varieties, Roditis and Savatiano, have great potential and in order to showcase the Retsina of Spata, he puts great effort in the improvement of the outward-looking orientation of his business, but also in the promotion of the Greek indigenous varieties.
