Stergiou vineyard
Located on a choice piece of Macedonian land, at an altitude of 680 meters and at the south foothills of mountain Vitsi, Stergiou vineyard is right across the beautiful lake of Kastoria. This vineyard is considered to be an example of organic wine cultivation. It complies with the modern trends, respecting the individual, the consumer and the environment.
The semi-continental climate of the region is characterized by low temperatures in winter, with rainfalls and snowfalls, but has also a mild, dry summer.
The 6 hectares vineyard has linear structure and is planted with the varieties of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Xinomavro and Riesling.
The vineyard includes a contemporary winery that is open to visitors and is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery. The wines produced are made exclusively from the privately owned vineyard grapes. The owners do not have the ambition of mass production. Instead they have a vision: to utilize the uniqueness of the microclimate in order to create soulful wines that reflect the character of the region and the variety they are made of.
Respect towards the local, cultural and social values is important for an ecosystem to be complete and reinforce its significance. Stergiou family seeks to maintain the needed balance between man and nature.
