Tatsis Winery
The engagement of Tatsis family with wine goes long way back in time and place. The family comes from Vodena of Eastern Rumelia, a wine-growing region for centuries.
In 1924, the grandparents came as refugees to settle in Goumenissa. Since then, the family has acquired vineyards in Limpaskerit and Gerakona, which are considered to be ideal positions for grape-growing, with calcareous non-irrigated grounds. The vineyards were initially cultivated by the grandfather, then his son Christos with his two sons, Periklis and Stergios.
In 1998, the cultivation received the organic certification and since 2002 the vineyards are cultivated in compliance with the principles of biodynamic agriculture. The output is between 300 and 700 kg per 0.1 hectare.
Vinification takes place in the privately-owned facilities and the red wines are placed in oak French and American barrels of 225 l for ageing. Visitors are welcome following telephone communication.
